My name is Stefania Sotelo, and I am currently taking part in a Community Service Learning (CSL) placement for my Politics of Foreign Aid course. Recently, I joined the uOttawa World Vision chapter where I was given the opportunity to create a website for group.
I must admit, at first I was skeptical as to how exactly I could help, and then I thought to myself maybe I could engage with students through blogging about foreign aid and the initiatives of World Vision across the globe.
If you have the chance to participate in a CSL placement I highly reccomend it. It makes the course a little more interesting and lets you work with a program thats related to your field! For example, after doing a job search I came to realize that a lot of communication jobs mention web design as a required skilled. Even blogging can serve as a great skill for a future job. Communicating with audiances is an indiscpensible skill to have. As a blogger you seek to inform audiances or discuss current issues. However, there is a catch- you must do it in a simple yet stimulating way.
For the next couple of months I will be exploring world topics that have to do with foreign aid in hopes of raising awarness and informing students. Feel free to contact us with comments or ideas!
